Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is an advanced therapy for chronic pain that uses a small implanted device to send mild electrical impulses to the spinal cord. These impulses interfere with pain signals before they reach the brain. The procedure begins with a trial phase, where temporary leads are placed to evaluate effectiveness before permanent implantation.
Personalized pain relief—electronic therapy tailored to your body.
You may be asked to fast for 6 hours prior to the procedure. Wear comfortable clothing, and arrange for someone to drive you home. Let your provider know about any medications, medical devices, or implants you may have. You may need to temporarily stop blood thinners or adjust medications under medical supervision.
During the trial phase, the temporary stimulator will be worn externally for about a week. You may experience immediate pain relief or progressive improvement. For permanent implantation, a small device is placed under the skin, and you’ll receive detailed post-op care instructions. Avoid bending, twisting, or lifting for several weeks. Follow-up visits are required to adjust stimulation settings.
